How to dip corals
6 min read
Every new coral, every time. A 10-minute dip is the difference between a healthy reef and a months-long pest outbreak.
Why dip?
Coral pests (flatworms, AEFW, pyramid snails, nudibranchs, red bugs) hitchhike on frags from even reputable sources. Adults are visible; eggs are not. A dip kills both before they can establish in your display.
Recommended dip
Use only coral dips that are specifically designed and labeled for dipping corals. Dalua, Seachem, Two Little Fishies, and other commercial coral dips are recommended options. Always follow the instructions printed on the product label for concentration and dip time.
Step-by-step
Follow the manufacturer's instructions included with the coral dip product you purchased — each product has its own mixing ratio, dip time, and safety steps. If you need help choosing a dip or reading the directions, contact us and we'll walk you through it.
